I was listening to FM radio on Sunday and tghe local radio station in New York City was playing GODZILLA . I honestly never heard the song before SUNDAY , but when the song ended and the overly pubescent DJ ( He was prob really about 60) squealed out . That song is a CLASSIC..and I thought a Classic what ? Classic piece of shit ? Classic waste of tape and video ? C’mon guys get real.. The song sucks . The fact that a major group( BLUE OYSTER CULT was huge), could write a song about a Japanese animated dragon?dinosaur?lizard? and be serious about it is just….BRUTAL ! Now that I think about it I might write a song about GIGANTOR and put it on YOUTUBE and make a few millions…HHmmmm not a bad idea.” Gi Gi Gi Gan Tor,,You are the beast. Not quite Robot, not quite Man. I’ll play my axe for you . If I can “..Ouch

What makes you think that BOC were being serious when they wrote this song?
“Oh no, there goes Tokyo – go, go, Godzilla!”
C’mon – that’s tongue-in-cheek!
Like a lot of their stuff, in fact.

I didnt think they were fooling around. Maybe I have to go back and listen a different way..more tongue and cheek…Good point.. What other songs did they do where they were fooling around ?

From what I read about the song, the band meant it as a tribute to Japan for their success over there, or so I read. A fitting tribute I would think. Anyway, worst song in Rock history? I can thank of a hell of a lot worse.
